Gin Blossoms – Day Job (Scott Johnson, Bill Leen, Phillip Rhodes, Jesse Valenzuela, Robin Wilson)

VERSE:

F#5 A5 B5
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------2----4-----------------------
-4----(4)----(4)----(4)----2----4-----4-4-4-4-4-4~------
-4----(4)----(4)----(4)----0----2-----4-4-4-4-4-4~------
-2----(2)----(2)----(2)---------------2-2-0h2—0h2~-----
       (let ring) ~let ring
“We’ve been here once before”

CHORUS:

this song is in the key of A major (the II chord in A major key is B-minor). But the blossoms use reverse polarity and play a B-major chord instead of the minor to give an ascending feel. Same thing with the F#-major chord.

 A5 E B F#
--------------------------------------
-------9----------11-------------------
-------9----8-----11-------------------
--7----9----9-----11------------------
--7----7----9-----9--------------------
--5---------7--------------------------
“I should’ve been a whole lot further”

cool riff in the chorus:
|---------------------------------
|-------------------------------
|-------------------------------
|--------0---------------0-----
|----0---------------0---------
|--2---------------1-------------
| Asus2 E
|------------------------------
|------------------9-----------
|------------------9-----------
|--7---------------9-------------
|--7---------------7------------
|--5------------------------------

BRIDGE:
The solo consists of an F#minor pentatonic scale over the verse. Simple as that. There are a few good fundamental riffs in the solo. But other than that, there’s nothing about it that would make me want to play it or tab it out. This is a good song to improvise the solo on your own if you want to cover it.
